R&D & Innovation — Geospatial Compliance Technology | Project-X Management
Research & Development
Building the Technology That Runs on New Zealand's Future
Project-X Management is not just a compliance consultancy. We are building a geospatial intelligence platform — from the ground up — designed to transform how New Zealand navigates building compliance, property development, and land decisions.

Platform
A Geospatial Intelligence Platform for New Zealand's Property Sector
Our in-house R&D team is developing a technology platform inspired by the PlotPotential methodology — combining building compliance rules, geospatial data, property intelligence, engineering inputs, and AI-assisted analysis to make complex development decisions easier to understand and act on.
This is deep, sustained research. We are not building a product on top of existing tools — we are designing original systems that handle large-scale geospatial datasets, 3D spatial modelling, remote sensing pipelines, and regulatory logic in ways that do not currently exist in the New Zealand market.
Callaghan Innovation
Backed by New Zealand's R&D Authority
Callaghan Innovation is New Zealand's government agency for business research and development — the body that funds and validates deep technology innovation across the country. Project-X Management has engaged with Callaghan Innovation as part of our formal R&D programme, and our technology development has been assessed and accepted as eligible for support.
This is not a grant for a generic product feature. Callaghan Innovation's support is reserved for organisations pursuing genuine, sustained R&D — where the technology being built does not yet exist in commercial form and requires years of development before it can be brought to market. That is exactly what we are doing.
What Callaghan Innovation Recognition Means
- Our R&D programme has been independently assessed as technically credible and nationally significant.
- The geospatial and compliance technology we are building is recognised as novel — not an adaptation of existing tools.
- Our overseas technical contributors have been accepted as legitimate participants in a New Zealand R&D programme.
- We are building technology that Callaghan Innovation believes will contribute to New Zealand's economic growth and global standing.
Research Focus
Three Areas of Deep R&D
Geospatial Intelligence & 3D Systems
We are building advanced geospatial pipelines capable of processing large-scale spatial datasets — including satellite imagery, DEMs, point clouds, and LiDAR data — and rendering them in real-time 3D environments. This enables property professionals and compliance teams to make decisions based on how land and buildings actually exist in space, not just on paper.
Compliance Logic & Regulatory Automation
New Zealand's building compliance environment is complex, layered, and inconsistent across councils. Our R&D focuses on translating regulatory rules — zoning, consents, overlays, building codes — into structured, computable logic that can be applied automatically at scale. The goal: removing ambiguity from compliance decisions and replacing manual interpretation with reliable, auditable outputs.
Remote Sensing & Property Intelligence
Our team brings expertise from world-class geospatial research institutions to apply remote sensing technology — including SAR, multispectral, and hyperspectral analysis — to real-world property and compliance challenges. This gives us the ability to derive insights from raw satellite and aerial data that no standard property tool currently provides in New Zealand.
Recognised on the International Stage
Our technology platform — still in active development — was selected and recognised at a leading Proptech awards event in Australia, competing against established and well-funded technology companies in the property and compliance sector.
Award details to be confirmed
This section will be updated with the specific award name, event, and year once confirmed.
"This recognition is a signal that what we are building is genuinely different. Not an incremental improvement — a new approach to how compliance and property intelligence should work."
Our Team
World-Class Talent, Building for New Zealand
Deep R&D requires deep expertise. Our technical team includes specialists sourced from some of the world's foremost geospatial and remote sensing research institutions — including the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, which operates under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This is the level of expertise our platform requires, and it is not available in concentrated form anywhere in New Zealand today.
We are proud to be bringing this talent into New Zealand — not taking it away. Our team members are based here, contributing to the economy, and helping build something that will serve the New Zealand property and compliance sector for years to come.
Expertise from Around the World
- Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS)
- Leading NZ building compliance professionals
- Ex-Auckland Council building officers
- BOINZ-accredited inspectors & consultants
- PropTech engineers & data scientists
Why This Technology Matters
Clarity in a Complex System
New Zealand's building and planning rules are fragmented across councils, legislation, and guidance documents. Our technology makes that complexity navigable — for developers, architects, and compliance professionals.
Faster, Better Decisions
Time lost to compliance uncertainty costs the property sector millions each year. Automated, auditable compliance intelligence means decisions that used to take weeks can be made in hours.
Built Here, For Here
We are not adapting an overseas product for the New Zealand market. We are designing from scratch, with New Zealand's regulatory environment, land data, and council systems at the core of every architectural decision.
